There was once a rich man. He was so stingy （吝啬) that he would never invite a friend to a meal. But once he lent his house to a neighbour who wanted to give a banquet（宴会）。 Passers-by wondered at seeing a feast （酒席） going on in the misers house, and asked his doorkeeper a bout it. Oh, it's not my masters feast, "he said"He' ll give one when he's in the next world, not before.
The miser oveiheard this. He rushed out and shouted angrily at th servant，"who gave you the permission to make promises for me?"
