Professor Egg was usually busy with the work in his college.However，when his mother phoned to say she was to visit them，he agreed to meet her at the station in town.
On the day she was to arrive，his wife gave him a list of things they needed in town and told him to get them by the way（顺便）.He started out early to meet her.
Later in the day，when he came back with a box of foods and other things，she wasn't with him.His wife asked if she had missed the train.
"Oh！"he said，"She wasn't in the list."
